The Zone of Interest 2023
5/5 for entertainment? - impossible. You don’t watch this film for the reason you’d watch any other. Watching this film feels more of a commemorative duty, requiring a prior, moderate level of knowledge of the Holocaust/ Auschwitz - inadequate Holocaust education would lead you to thinking this film is dry and uneventful, tainting what could’ve been a one of a kind watching experience. I recommend you watch this film soon after visiting Auschwitz or after going through the eureka moment…

City of God 2002
Wow where to start. Never seen such a merciless killer in film before I came across Lil Z - evil evil bastard. The entire film is a masterclass in acting from kids, most being their first time in film. There’s one scene that’s just beyond fucked - the acting from what must be a 5 year old child is unfathomable. Just a perfect film displaying the lottery of survival of the ‘City of God’.

Very disappointed after seeing it as it had cracking reviews - I just don’t get it and how people are so in love with it. It seemed to be a fairly uneventful film. The description of the film I read prior to watching is literally all that happens and all you need to know. Let me know if I’m missing some major underlying point.
