  I used to have a poster of this on my wall when I was a kid, and I really thought it was the goddamn dog’s bollocks. 

  Having just watched it right now as an adult I can confirm I was down bad as a child. Silly daft thing that shouldn’t escape the confines of Affleck’s Palace.

  They Live 1988

  ★★★★ Watched 05 Apr 2021

  This film features: 

  - a five minute, meticulously choreographed fight scene that flirts with homoeroticism and stalls the plot entirely  
  - a drifter with the rich baritone of a televangelist
  - a man in his mid twenties playing the role of a defenceless child 
  - an actual harmonica played in an actual hobo camp with barrel fires and everything 
  - the line ‘your face looks like it fell in the cheese dip back in 1956’

  All told, this is about as good as heavy handed criticisms of 80s yuppie culture gets. Charlie Sheen and Michael Douglas could only dream.
