  I'm not convinced this is some misunderstood masterpiece, but it's something. Knowing this was mocked and maligned in the late 90s and how eagerly we all still bought into the post-9/11 propaganda that would sink us into endless foreign conflicts makes me think we should be listening harder to the people who have lived through fascism.

  I wouldn't argue if you thought this movie was too much, but it was just the right amount for me. Though I don't think you can argue that these two actors inhabit their roles as deeply and meaningfully as anyone else in the genre has managed since probably Christopher Reeve.
