Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

    ★★★★

To date, Marvel has created 35 MCU films and yet it’s really only this one that has any sense of directorial style. Other films have auteur flourishes, but here you can see all the Sam Raimi visuals and tone on full display.

That sequence in Kamar Taj with Wanda evading her capture is fantastic, or when she takes over the other Wanda, with the use of camera and edits being just what we’ve come to expect from this director. Elizabeth…

    Blitz

    ★★★

Blitz has a different lens on the “Blitz spirit” that’s usually been seen in film and TV before, using this story to show the diversity of London at the time of WWII.

    Wolf Man

    ★★★½

This was a real disappointment. Leigh Whannell is such an expert director and there’s some fantastically shot sequences here, but this film is just missing something.

It starts off so well, with showing why Blake is who he is and his relationship with his daughter, with a brief introduction to his wife Charlotte before things just go from bad to worse.

I’m a fan of films where the wheels come off very early on, but here there just wasn’t enough…
