A superb and powerful look into conflicts between ethnic communities and racial justice, built through ongoing tensions on a scorching day. A film with intentionally conflicting but excellently developed characters that leaves you watching neutrally as you discover the racial prejudice that secretly fuels them.

However, as expressed by the conflicted statements from Martin Luther King and Malcolm X at the end. The ‘right thing’ is truly ambiguous. Such as the correct action of delivering racial justice, violence or…

Could’ve been a really sharp satire with a thought provoking message. Tackling cultural divide within a university setting. But it hasn’t aged well, leaving to a convoluted conclusion. It’s also edited and stylised like a cheap tv movie which doesn’t help.

This may be my hottest take of all time.

THIS is a near perfect superhero film. Its genuinely on par with Spider-Man 2 for me (and that film is already on my favourites list). Maybe this wasn’t seen as great as the others because of how “dark” it is. This film was great until I heard one of the worst fan-catering, nostalgia baiting lines I have ever heard in a sequel. Come on, there was no need. But other than that, I really enjoyed this, returning to the slow burn routes of the original 2 whilst incorporating the horror elements of the first, even if it’s a little too familiar. Cailee Spaeny is a star in the making, and the visceral atmosphere and sound production are quite effective. Also very brutal and mostly practical, which is always a plus.

A nice filler in between alien and aliens.
