Steamboy 2004
Was looking for a steampunk movie and reddit sent me here. Director of Akira, big production that took 10 years to complete, felt like good enough reasons. It starts well: good plot, good context, some fancy animation techniques I hadn't seen before in anime such as circular pans and tilts. And the whole victorian steam tech lore was very promosing.
