The Searchers 1956
Whilst this film is beautifully shot and highlights in John Wayne’s character the true brutality and hypocrisy of the hero of an American Western I found this film pretty dull and uninspiring. I was mostly paying attention for more resemblances to Star Wars.

I'm Still Here 2024
Phenomenal. Incredible film that knocked me off my feet. The 2h+ runtime slipped away like nothing as I was put under the spell of this film. It’s so clear about memory and the need for memory in Brazil especially given the unjust denial of even a certificate of death, let alone a recovered body and a funeral for hundreds taken by the dictatorship. Fernanda Torres gives one of the best performances I’ve ever seen. Absolutely obsessed with the cinematography and the soundtrack. 10/10 film.
