At this point I may as well just call Timo Tjahjanto one of my favourite directors because every time this man releases a film it skyrockets to the top of my list.
While I still believe The Night Comes For Us is his best work, The Shadow Strays stands as yet another awe inspiring action masterclass alongside his other works.
The choreography is always on point here, I don't think we even need to discuss it, I will say however…
I went into this movie knowing absolutely nothing about it and all I can say is.....

This is gonna sound super corny I guess but as someone who has and still does struggle with body issues and self confidence issues this movie genuinely made me feel good about myself, I know some people don't like the message of the movie and that's fine but the entire time Renee was confident I couldn't help but smile the entire time wishing it were me and hopefully one day I will be able to say that it is me. 8.0 / 10
Not only did Ari Aster not take on board any of the criticisms he faced with Hereditary's unclear and convoluted story, he doubles down on all the worst factors of Hereditary to deliver a boring, bloated, bland and ultimately completely un scary movie.
The performances are all fine but completely unmemorable
The directing and visuals however are the only consistently good thing about the movie they aren't enough though to distract from the stupidity occuring throughout the rest of the movie.
