This movie was truly incredible. The acting was next level, and I was impressed for the entire almost three hours. The one criticism I have is that the turning point of the story felt a tad abrupt, playing out in a sudden way that left me with a little bit of whiplash and confusion. It wasn’t egregious by any means, just something I noticed. As someone who read the books, this is a really cool adaptation that expanded on elements and characters in a rewarding way. Nearly a perfect movie.
This movie was really cool. I don’t think I would say it was a masterpiece because I think to say that, I’d need to understand the third act a little better- which I can confidently say I didn’t understand. Like one bit. But, the performances were amazing. Jamie Lee Curtis’ was okay- not Oscar worthy, IMO, but I’m not part of the academy (yet).

This movie is super weird. The main character, David, teleports away from his hometown at age 15 only to return for the first time at age 23. To celebrate his homecoming, David beats the shit out of some random guy at the hometown bar that his high school crush, Millie, bartends at.
