Requiem for a Dream 2000
This is a film about addiction and the bouts of destruction that come with it. The obsessive desire to “look” or “feel” good. The massive amount of cuts and shaky camera work seem to match the mentality a person might have while under the influence. The plot follows 4 people all struggling with some sort of dependency. It’s dark and unapologetic. There’s no happy ending here, just anxiety and sorrow. If you’re looking for an easy relaxing film to watch, this is not it.
