I really like this documentary.
It focusses mostly on one aspect, being d’Angelo’s struggle with stardom. But where a lot of documentaries tend to push you towards a particular feeling or emotion, ‘Devil’s Pie’ has a very neutral view on its main theme. It doesn’t answer the questions you have for this mysterious artist. It simply gives the viewer a chance to get to know D’Angelo.
