Meant to only watch for a little while and ended up staying up until 1:26am. Tears welled up during the opening credits, and then I laughed and cried and laughed and cried. What a special movie that makes me feel very tender, in part because of years spent watching it with my mom and sister.

The adult part of me can now appreciate all the performances (Sally!!! Field!!! Icon!!!), see the "stage-to-screen" adaptation mechanics (which I find very comforting--Truvy's salon…

My mom and sister got home when I was in the middle of the movie and the three of us watched the last 15 minutes pretty much silent except for when my mother said "Elizabeth Olsen is such a good actress."

Kind of heartbroken at how much Jayne Mansfield had to assert her intelligence--if only she knew that her youngest daughter would rise to fame playing a character known for her humanity, dedication to justice, and, yes, her big brain as much as her beauty.

Also interesting to see how harshly Mariska regarded her mother until the making of this film and the reverent distance with which she keeps her father, Mickey. Not once does she mention his previous marriage or…

In a just world, this would've gotten a theatrical release so kids could carpool to their local movie theaters and take cringe before/after selfies like my friends and I did for The Fault in Our Stars back in the day. But there aren't many local movie theaters left, and it seems most of us are scared of being cringe...

As someone who was 14-15 during the TFiOS era, I really can't hate on this movie. My knee-jerk reaction is to…

It is 1:52am so here are my immediate thoughts: is the second half of this film kind of a mess? Yes. Was I that meme of the dude leaning in as soon as Ani and Igor started interacting? Yes. Something in both the chemistry between the actors and how quickly Igor's presence as a hired hand, so to speak, makes Ani's position even more glaring once Ivan reappears...I kept thinking "those two are the ones who are the same, they…

I mainly wish religious people were taken seriously, especially when taken to task re: belief and certainty but this is supposed to be a funny little movie and my friends said that I'd survive Mr. Reed bc I'd engage with his questions and tire him out saying such things like "well is Judaism monotheistic some interpretations of the Old Testament point to polytheism such as--" or ask about Zoroastrianism...but this is supposed to be a fun romp, and when I…

"Cue the cocaine!" Cute, earnest film. I agree with (most?) critics in saying that it's nice to watch a theater kid movie that loves/respects the community as much as it pokes fun. Honestly, I'd have added an extra half hour to the run time and developed a few of the plots a tad more. Overall, I laughed a lot. This film's greatest sin was underutilizing Ayo Edebiri and Alan Kim! The child actors ate down.
