  when the pedophilic themes started about 20 min in I had to check if it was directed by a man and was unsurprised to find out it was. 
  her overall journey was like yeah girl boss slay, but still very much through the male gaze that I couldn’t really look past, but it was at least very pretty!

  i now get why the theatre and dance department at my high school went crazy about this for like a year. 
  the musical part felt silly to me for a lot of it which felt weird as a musical theatre lover?? but the last sequence made it make sense, that that was the point i think, bc life is not a musical! it’s not perfect, shit gets in the way and you don’t always get the happy ending you thought…
