The Outrun 2024
It’s been a while since I wrote a review on here whilst walking home, feeling compelled to put thoughts down and grasp onto my appreciation for a cinematic experience and store it on a screen. Not wanting to let it pass me by but cling. Longer still since I’ve felt changed by a film. Sitting in silence as the credits roll, inside, a swelling like the sea. The bite of cold water, a fire easing clenched limbs, the softening of a raging heart. Rebirth and coming home. A circular loop. Hope. I’ll be thinking about this one for a while and I’m grateful.

The Preacher Beyond The Pines
Similar vibes to one of the best. Daddy issues a plenty, and lots of that gorgeous, backwards town scenery.
Pretty faithful to the text in a lot of ways which was gratifying, but the sparsely drawn (particularly female) characters left me wanting more, and the structure felt all kinds of messy. Wait, is it a palindrome?
I came for Rob’s ruffles (yet another thirst watch over here), but stayed for (another) sickly Scanlen, killer Keough, and the gorgeously grim atmosphere.
