Insanely overhyped. Dialogue made me cringe so much I couldn't focus on the actual movie cause every time someone opens their mouth im laughing or cringeing. Two pretty good things about this were the cinematography and Harvey Guillén as Eli. Has this director ever even met a Russian in his entire life? It really annoyed me for some reason how much of a caricature they made Sergei. They made Josh such a 1-dimensional hateable villain that it just completely broke…

Insane that this was Garland's directorial debut. Favourite thing about the movie is that your interpretation of the meaning/moral/warning changes significantly based on whether you believe Ava passed the test. Really clever way to incorporate the viewer into their own little 'Turing test' in a sense.

An OK movie. I desperately wanted to like this but I just can't. I felt the pacing was completely off and dialogue was clunky and weird at times. The story could have been very interesting, but it really felt like the director didn't know how to tell Lee's story. Terrible delivery of a great story.
