Conclave turns Vatican politics into a surprisingly gripping power struggle. I think the goal here was to fit as many film tropes as humanly possible into a few hours… AI crushed it. Don’t mean to throw the AI accusation around but the last two movies I’ve seen in theaters have genuinely felt like someone entered the prompt “make me a script for a movie that fills a box office slot, has an unserious tone, and garners some interest from the casting”.
