Incredible visuals help to make palpable the theoretical underpinnings of quantum mechanics in what is probably Nolan’s most mature film to date, even if the subject matter is by definition less immediately entertaining than his prior catalog due to lacking the same thrills those films relied on. Nevertheless, this was a captivating experience to watch, with its bookend analogy for Prometheus and the burden of deadly innovation being probably the most impactful plot point.

Alien: Romulus 2024
It was a joy to witness a new entry in this franchise on the big screen for the first time. Where I was concerned the film was going to end in a predictable way, the plot instead birthed an entirely unanticipated third act that left me disgusted and amazed.
While at times Romulus dips into nostalgia bait territory it also pushes forward lore in interesting ways, pits its protagonists against the alien life forms in new scenarios, and revisits the claustrophobia of entrapment with an unknown force in the isolation of space not emphasized since the original entry in the franchise.
