  70-year-old Liam Neeson is going to take a lot of the criticism here. He's a good two generations older than the Marlowe of Raymond Chandler's novels, but he at least brings something new to a role that has been covered in every way imaginable.

  Don Hertzfeldt conjures magic with a stick figure.

  This collection of shorts -- Everything Will Be OK, I Am So Proud of You and the eponymous third section -- tells the story of Bill, a man suffering an undefined mental illness.

  It's no more than a flip-book of a film that recounts fragments of half-dreamt memories. Yet, despite the sparseness of the visuals and the elusory plot, it captures the essence of cinema.
