Disappointing really… 20 years after Football Factory and about 18 years after The Business I was excited to see how much Nick Love had improved as a director, I feel if anything he’s gone backwards.
The weird narration piece to camera scenes which were littered throughout the whole film felt like they were straight out of a year 9 drama lesson, completely killing any flow the scene had and were, in most cases, completely unnecessary.

Fantastic murder mystery, clearly inspired by Unfriended but without all the paranormal malarkey, a complex but not confusing and genuinely moving story with very well written characters and relatable dialogue, would recommend to a friend.
The review at the top of the DVD for this film says it “makes Football Factory look like a girly playground scrap!” And it really sums up the film there, this film is Football Factory but done better in every aspect. I don’t believe there’s another film adapting the origins of Willy Wonka, does this film do it justice?
I found the film struggled with a clear direction, given the fact there are 2 very successful adaptations of Dahl’s novel, the film fell into this weird category of trying to include aspects from both the original and Burton’s remake resulting in a kind of messy middle ground that imo doesn’t really work.
