Knight of Cups 2015
As a formerly unemployed, genuinely lost, burnt- out individual slicing through all of his life savings while living in LA - this one lands differently. The ennui. The meaninglessness. In love and in lost.
I know I’ll be in the minority with this, but I genuinely believe this to be Malick’s best film. He achieved, for me, what his predecessors (a la Antonioni) never quite could, despite their many valiant efforts.
What did he achieve? A film honestly depicting the condition of a spiritually bankrupt person.
