My second time watching this movie (yesterday) was unique — a birthday singalong private screening at Film Noir Cinema in Greenpoint — and so reminded me of my first time seeing this movie under circumstances almost equally special (but just almost). Nothing about it was normal.
Obese gay bodyguard constantly speaking on the phone in Hebrew with the strongest French accent, Houellebecq looking creaturely and tripping on shrooms, leopard print bathrobes, the North African François Hollande, vaping DMT at the lunch table, abundance of racially-charged humor. Gay sexual innuendos.
Actually I liked it.
