I Dream in Another Language 2017
Very sweet and sad, but ultimately a bit hollow for me. I liked the framing device of the linguist’s project in theory, but his character and love interest were so poorly fleshed out that they almost felt unnecessary. The story at the heart was intense and captivating, but not completely satisfying either. But hey- it looked great, the sound design was awesome, and the acting was excellent 👌

Don’t have much thoughtful analysis to add to my initial review except for a few small things I noticed the second time around. There are so many little xrtails that make this version of Twin Peaks so much darker than the show, like Sarah Palmer’s chainsmoking, the odd sepia overtone of many of the outdoor scenes, the lack of many of lighthearted characters.
