What more could possibly be said about this movie?!

I first watched this movie when I was about 15, and it stuck with me in all the wrong ways. So much so that it took me about 20 years to finally sit down with it again, and when I did I was as blown away as I was all those years before.

How do I begin to describe this movie?

Part coming of age drama, part love letter to 90s TV, part allegory for growing up in the wrong body, wrong place, wrong time, just feeling...wrong. And more importantly it's about what it's like to feel seen, to feel found, to find your place, whether that's with friends,  real people, or through the parasocial warmth of your favourite TV show.

While I can't relate to the grander, intimate metaphor on display here,…
