  At the beginning you feel like this is just another depressing movie about how life can be so boring.
  But as it keeps going you kind of feel like you wouldn't mind being Paterson...
  By the end of the movie you understand that life can be beautiful even when you don't have a big adventure, it makes you appreciate the little things and the little relationships you make throughout  life.

  I have seen people complain that there is no character development or background. I see it as a good thing though. Because there isn't a character we are following, we can focus more on the event itself. And it definitely doesn't mean we aren't rooting for these characters' survival, but it gives you perspective and makes you understand better the impact that this event had.
