Enemy 2013
I hate the term Lynchian because of how it’s been rendered meaningless over the years, but this is kind of Lynchian in the sense that it’s a bit like some David Lynch films, particularly Mulholland Drive. It’s not Lynchian in the way that some people use it, when they just mean weird or shit.

Mad to think PTA was in his 20’s when he made this, feels like the work of a master craftsman, almost depressing how good he was out the gate really. Never noticed how strong the Goodfellas influence is on this film before as well. Julianne Moore was robbed of the Oscar!

Gosford Park 2001
I found it slightly difficult to figure out whomst was whom for a good chunk of the first act; but it’s a rather enjoyable sort of Sunday afternoon fare once you have a decent grasp on all of the characters, with a really strong ensemble cast led by the late, great Michael Gambon, Kelly McDonald and Clive Owen. Laurence Fox is also in it, sadly.
