Holy shit, I started writing this review not quite understanding what I just watched and actually being a little disappointed. I was talking about how the cinematography was good and how the father-daughter relationship between Paul and Frankie is incredible on screen, but then how I couldn’t really relate and that I didn’t really feel anything while watching.

It’s always inspiring to watch a film with no action and very little comedy or drama, yet still be totally engrossed by the story. Perfect Days follows the life of a single middle aged man living in Tokyo as a public toilet cleaner, and is an absolute slice of life.

peak coming of age story that perfectly encapsulates the early 2000s. felt my childhood was very seen here, i cringed so much but it was hilarious and sad. we all make mistakes growing up, nothings easy: friends, family, love, we’re all just out here doing stuff.

if we succeed or fail, who knows, but you gotta try no matter what.

a little guy goes on a big journey where nature reclaims all. love how all the animals form a little rag tag crew, incredible how so much conversation / communication happens with zero dialogue the entire time.

makes me wanna adopt a cat.

After months of hype, finally got to see The Brutalist tonight at the Philadelphia Film Society Center in 35mm. You’d think that a movie boasting a 3 hour 35 minute run time would be an absolute slog, but the first half of the movie flies by in an instant. When the intermission came up I was actually stunned that over an hour and a half had passed me by.

First and foremost, what a love letter to the state of…
