Aw, this film was so much more wholesome than I was expecting! Da'Vine Joy Randolph was definitely the most compelling performance in the film, but I felt Mary's narrative was a little disjointed from the overall pacing in some places.
I thought the 'found family' theme was so sweet - the cherries jubilee scene and the bit where 'Crying, Laughing, Loving, Lying' was playing felt like a warm hug. Definitely going to have to save another rewatch for the Christmastime.
This film was pretty entertaining, definitely one I'd watch again. The choreography is what does it for me though because I was intently watching everyone's tap dancing during each number and wondering how the hell they do it...
I thought the acting and individual scenes themselves were incredible, but I just wasn't the biggest fan of the plot itself. We hardly know anything about Anora and I fear this isn't one of those movies where you can dissect her behaviour and figure things out about her because all you really had were these montages about her with Ivan until the tension of the film hits. Obviously, I am not including the final scene in this judgement though. I think it was great just as a fun watch but I was expecting a little bit more from it to be honest...
That rich guy will NEVER deserve Vivian but he won me over with the ending.. Beware of Edwards!!! Anyways, I need a whole separate movie focusing on Barney because he is the biggest sweetheart to ever grace the screen
