score obsessed film girl
one thing about me is that I Will be watching bad horror movies
i like josh ruben but the tone of this just didnt hit for me -- in some ways it reads like an old school Scary Movie esque parody comedy but then in other ways its trying to be like Scream but more fanfic-y & ironic and the whole thing just moves too fast? like by 20 minutes in there are about 8 different movie cliches and for why? i could only get thru this by watching it on 2x speed while lightly toasted :/
AAAAAAAAAAA everybody shut the fuck up this will be consuming me for the next year thanks.... here's some very stream of consciousness thoughts since I still feel like I'm not fucking real:
- I am AMAZED at the Midwestern vibe that Jane Schoenbrun and Alex G create together, it's literally unmatched and I haven't felt so seen by a film's aesthetic since World's Fair and this one
- Brig lundy-paine confirmed that all queers work at Build-a-Bear at one point…
some thoughts:
- 100% lesbian approved by me and my lesbian gf
- a movie that features Linda Ronstadt's Blue Bayou and Margaret Qualley wearing wife beaters is literally crafted exactly for me
- a very very silly fun time I'm frustrated that people are shitting on stupid raunchy campy gay movies like let us have fun jfc
- the tone was kind of all over the place but in a camp way so I thought it was delightful
- kind of inconsistent and gets better as it goes on
