The Substance 2024
I really respect how right from the get-go you have to suspend your disbelief due to the insane nature of the substance procedure, because that disbelief needs to extend to a young woman with no prior consciousness being able to rent, haul, and utilize the power tools needed to somehow do a full demo on her bathroom in a matter of days, seamlessly. Not to say young women cannot do this, but it was just silly. Good movie, though. Very graphic 🙂↕️

2. Does no one know how to write middle schoolers into movies? The daughter is like 11 crying “mommy let daddy inside he’s just sick 🥺” girl was your dad balding, spitting up teeth, growling and gnawing at his own arm 15 minutes ago???? That is NOT your dad, run for your life!!!Truly the dialogue for this movie was so cheesy and especially infantilizing to the child who is old enough to do algebra that what could’ve been an okay to pretty bad movie to actually just bad

Late Night with the Devil 2023
Not for me, I fear. I loved the format and the kooky visuals, and it’s an interesting idea for a film on the whole. I think I would’ve liked it more had there been a subplot or two, and the main one wasn’t so predictable. Still a pretty fun watch, even if it wasn’t in the least bit scary.
