Heretic 2024
Great performances from all actors, smart dialogue but few plot holes and unsatisfactory moments. Clever but not as clever as I would have liked. Nice that the two ladies were not written as purely unsuspecting naive little girls, they put up a great fight intellectually and physically. In that way nice nuance. But left unsatisfied at the ending.

I like to think that the last shot is Ava realising that being at a traffic intersection people watching alone isn’t as fun as going on a date with someone. Then she goes back and rescues Caleb. Because man he didn’t deserve any of that poor guy. I guess men are just scared of women who don’t do as they say

Thought Gabriel LaBelle was really good, Michelle Williams amazing as ever. Normally get a bit tired of the “ode to cinema” trope but I think because this was semi-autobiographical about Spielbergs life and not just about the horrors of Hollywood and the movie industry, it felt somewhat more refreshing.
