This was an interesting film. I enjoyed the engagement with the question of religion and its role in the world. I think despite the grotesque outcome, this movie does pose an interesting question. Does religion or expectations set upon us when we are young and impressionable control our lives?
This is a question I never thought I would see answered through the medium of horror. However, I think somehow it seems almost the best genre for it. The answer is…

This film had sections where I found myself questioning what they were doing there. I thought this movie was particularly interesting. I found moments somewhat contrived and potentially reaching for a deeper meaning. However, it counters this over-exertion of double meanings and hidden understandings by having our pro/antagonist explain each point in detail. I found this film made me think a great deal about how we consume art and, beyond art, consumerism as a whole. Brilliantly acted, splendid story, excellent concept, perfectly executed. This was a great film.
