Heretic 2024
This was an interesting film. I enjoyed the engagement with the question of religion and its role in the world. I think despite the grotesque outcome, this movie does pose an interesting question. Does religion or expectations set upon us when we are young and impressionable control our lives?

This film had sections where I found myself questioning what they were doing there. However, in the first third especially, I found myself completely embalmed by the mysterious world of Nosferatu. It faced the same issue that most horror movies do in that it was frightening for the first third while the mystique of the monster is still yet to be unveiled. The Menu 2022
I thought this movie was particularly interesting. I found moments somewhat contrived and potentially reaching for a deeper meaning. However, it counters this over-exertion of double meanings and hidden understandings by having our pro/antagonist explain each point in detail. I found this film made me think a great deal about how we consume art and, beyond art, consumerism as a whole. Brilliantly acted, splendid story, excellent concept, perfectly executed. This was a great film.
