So much potential, wasted.
The first half of this film had me excited for a modern Southern Gothic. The oppressive and heavy air translated beautifully to the screen and, although a little exaggerated, I liked the friendships at play.
À la Atonement, I would have loved to have seen more of this love affair played out in the mind of Cairo and/or Miller. Even a closer look at her loneliness and his self-pitying voyage into obsolescence would have served this movie better. Instead it became a boring scorned woman revenge plot that had you not caring what way it panned out.
