Barbie of Swan Lake 2003
Pretty relatable, apart from being turned into a swan within 20 minutes. I myself have once said i cannot attend social events as I need to stay in with my magical crystals. Valid excuse. Good encouragement of spirituality. Side note, love how they incorporated Tchaikovsky’s score (even though it’s the act 1 finale music) in between dancing scenes as well. Really amplifies drama. Obviously directed by a man. Vile, disgusting and disrespectful. It’s filmed from the standpoint of her unaliving herself. The director even said “it’s not looking at her lasting legacy”. There are almost no films about men where it only focusses on their death and not their legacy. It’s just a (very often fabricated) trauma train. She was an extremely damaged but beautiful woman, and somehow the director had to sexualise her from the get go to till the end. Funny…
