pro tip: never ask your in-home, humanoid AI bot to watch a movie with you.
way more amusing and enjoyable than i anticipated.

while i went in skeptical, i’m glad to say i came out grinning.
this sequel started out kinda gimmicky; felt like there were too many callbacks/references that were trying to make unnecessary connections to the first movie. but as the story progressed, i found myself smiling and having fun.
really good sense of tension with the action too - that carries from the first movie.
i’m definitely ho-hum/meh about the bat lady character. kinda just there to clearly set up a third film…
as far as sequels go, this movie is on-par with what you’d expect. decent, but not as good as the first one.
this is the kind of movie where the tension builds from about the ~10minute mark, climbs and climbs and doesn’t break until the credits roll.
unsettling in equal measure with being artful. great cinematography, transitions and sound design; not to mention spectacular acting.
get ready to tackle your mommy problems, y’all. this one’s a wild ride; one i’ll forever wish i could see again for the first time.
