Realistic and disturbing, Blue Car (2002) is a clear predecessor to (the better known) Trust (2010). The most tragic aspect (of both films) is that the victimization could have been avoided with a minimum level of parental oversight.

White Oleander makes an interesting statement regarding mental health and co-dependency: How women are, often, psychologically abused into fearing intimacy with men; but also dependent, on male relationships, to help manage their feelings and maintain self-worth.
The criticisms, of men, the film posits, I believe, are authentic and appropriate: All of the male characters are narcissistic and irresponsible - except for Paul (Patrick Fugit). Inversely, all of the female characters lack a stable male relationship and are critically starved forβ¦

The meaning of Sheriff Bell's dream was that he was ashamed of himself because his fear of death prevented him from doing his duty. In other words: Ed knew the criminal was in the motel room, but his fear of death prevented him from doing his job, which, in this case, was to die honorably in the line of duty.
He interprets this moral failure as a desecration of the legacy of his father.

Extremely French in every way; Four Adventures Of Reinette And Mirabelle feels like a movie Godard would have made - if he wasn't so obsessed with political agitprop.
Four Adventures is shot like a documentary; You could almost call it a mockumentary, except it's too honest and noble to be a comedy. Indeed, it's very long and very boring, but everything in it is still, somehow, interesting. It's the only boring movie I've ever watched that I wouldn't edit down.β¦
