  Went in having no idea what to expect. It was at times brutal and at times gross. Some things didn’t quite make sense. But wow, fully engrossing and unexpected.

  The first hour was quite slow and dry.. but it picked up and got interesting, and then it ended and I was like “wait, what”.

  It’s a story about performing and performance, and maybe about reinvention? The acting is superb. Cate Blanchett sure can play a powerful woman. She sure can wear tailor-made suits too.

  I internally squealed when I saw that her assistant was played by Noémie Merlant (of Portrait of a Lady on Fire). I laughed when they showed Twitter.com. I laughed again at the knowing looks and skeptical expressions Tár’s wife displayed when Tár started favoring the new ingenue.
