Wild at Heart 1990
This is the cinematic equivalent to Sonic Youth's iconic Goo album cover. It's Lynch's fever dream, wish fulfillment road trip. And it's electric from start to finish. The soundtrack, Laura Dern, Cage's jacket, Fenn's geuinely haunting cameo, and the finest on-screen chemistry you've ever seen.

Magical adaptation that represents most of Tim Burton's best instincts. He captures a fantastical, vampiric Batman and contrasts him brilliantly with a Joker that feels very much like a Phantom of the Opera style ghoul. He seems less comfortable with action, wisely keeping those face-to-face fights to a minimum, instead dwelling on stunning framing of gothic imagery and repeated scenes of characters obsessively lingering over photographs and paintings.
