One of my all time favorite films. It's on my mind a lot these days with trumps particular brand of fascism and expansionist vision. Verhoven was so ahead of his time, knowing Americans better than they know themselves.
This is essential viewing to understand Israel / Palestine, to cut through the noise and access the truth of a time and a place. It's courageous filmmaking - the kind of work that prioritizes documenting the truth over even the safety of the filmmakers. But beyond being politically urgent and courageously assembled, it's just a good fucking film.
So much gratitude and admiration for these filmmakers. I hope this wins every award and makes it to millions of viewers.
I don't think I've ever seen the psychology of active combatants explored so truthfully, and it's haunting.
