  "Erotic horror" i.e. lots of gratuitous rape in this one, definitely offputting to some viewers. I can't bring myself to be too judgy since I have no clue about feminism in 70's Japan and how this movie sits within that context. In any case it's a well told story and gorgeous to look at. I'd like to have some of these images on my wall

  Awesome production design. It's so close to being terrific. The story hinges on the importance of having a soul or "heart" but doesn't do much to sell the idea. I have no clue what's lovable about Jennifer Connelly's character (or any character really)
