Absolutely love the switch to a handheld cam in that single, surprising, chaotic scene in the middle of the movie. Pure genius.
Characters are incapable of making good decisions in these movies. Maybe it’d be boring if they didn’t.
So straight forward that I kind of lost interest. Zero rewatch-ability.
It was missing that exciting “society is collapsing” flare that makes Cloverfield and Children of Men and World War Z so much fun.
Sturgill was a great add though.
Also, I think there’s no way the President makes a last stand in the actual Oval Office, but hey, that’s just me.
I watched a short form video on bad writing in movies, describing how bad exposition is done these days with characters going above and beyond to overexplain background and the current plot.
That video ruined these types of movies for me.
I’m pretty good at just seeing the entertainment value in bad movies and allowing them to still be a good time, but this one did it to me.
But what can I say, I was desperate for something to watch.
