God, I really loved this, as devastating as it was. Something that stuck with me was all the tasks Rita has been socialized to do as a young girl, like cleaning up after a meal while her little brother watches tv. That dynamic starts so young! Paz Vega captured so well the taught responsibilities of women and girls to protect our loved ones when men seek to do harm. What a phenomenal directorial debut. And Sofía Allepuz for Best Actress, I’m so serious!
