I think that this film is getting a lot more shit than it truly deserves. I don't think this movie is meant to be taken too seriously by the viewer, and I don't think that M. Night took it too seriously, either.
The scriptwriting is a little lazy, and the dialogue often feels like an on-the-nose exposition dump, but this film is a decently fun watch overall. I would definitely recommend just going out to see it with your friends.
