Matilda 1996
One of my Childhood obsession films, and I was so right on this one. Great for kids, hold up well for older viewers. The cinematography and practical effects are particularly impressive, and it’s such a sweet film— the dark undertones are realistic but not overwhelming, and the end is sweet and joyful. I love Matilda.

So obviously this was perfect. I was particularly taken with the futuristic neon college space clothes they wore in the beginning. Would have been improved if bill and Ted and Johanna and Elizabeth were all in love but I digress (I don’t). Big fan of drag queen the grim reaper also.

Never in my life has a film VIOLENTLY yanked me between the two extremes of absolutely delighted and genuinely horrified so often or so intensely.
