What a trip!

Loved this! I knew immediately that there were set design repeats after seeing Black Sabbath first (the gorgeous apartment from the first story 'The Telephone"). A great black-and-white giallo from Bava here with an incredibly shot backdrop of 1960's Rome. I could see that this is very much in-line with other black-and-white films from the early 60's like Bava's own Black Sunday and I even was reminded a few times of the creepy vibes of Carnival of Souls. Highly recommend this film if you love Bava and if you love the giallo genre.

I loved everything about Blood and Black Lace. The gorgeous set designs, the boisterous Technicolor lighting, a classic who-did-it giallo murder mystery, and the iconic red rotary phone (pronto!?). I've been on a kick of watching gialli lately, and this is by far in the top three for me in terms of overall storyline and aesthetic.
