Nickel Boys 2024
Visually it’s frustrating: It was really tough to get past the first person filmmaking, especially when there were many shots of just the ground, or a wall, or literally watching paint dry (!!), but then there would be absolutely beautiful shots as well. I think the first person really worked with the story, I’m just not a fan of that filmmaking. However, the more I think about this movie the more I like it.

I enjoyed it, I just wish they went into the daughter storyline a bit more. Also, the character relationships resolved when we didn’t see anything really change. But the overall story of Pamela Anderson’s character being “thrown away” and aging out of a profession was done pretty well.

How do I give a movie with so much heart and creativity only 2 1/2 stars? A live action cartoon only 2 1/2 stars? An interesting, fun, innovative comedy only 2 1/2 stars? A solid visual treatment that was consistent and well done, especially for a low budget film, only 2 1/2 stars? I absolutely love the direction this film went, and please world I want more like it, but it just didn’t work for me.
