There was a lot I liked about this movie (music, costumes, seeing old New York), but I felt like there were threads in the first half that never really got tied back. For example, his manager works hard to sign him, clearly he’s also trying to make a name for himself. He gets mad with Bob is an asshole during the tour with Joan but then is 100% his biggest supporter during the Newport Jazz Festival? It just didn’t feel complete to me.
