This moves with an infectious rhythm, and the antics and friendship of AJ and Moose, set against a nostalgic coming-of-age summer, make it an irresistible film. Alas, it is that very charm that makes this film's shortcomings even more glaring. The most disappointing shortcoming is how heavily Adam Rehmeier relies on the crude and sophomoric. It feels like a lazy move considering the surprising amount of opportunities the script presents for vulnerability and tenderness. There are certainly moments that tug at the heartstrings, but they feel rushed and underserved and leave things feeling unresolved by time the credits roll.

Knox Goes Away 2023
While this is not ultimately as clever or surprising as it is so carefully constructed to be, it's got a great concept working for it and Michael Keaton is magnetic as ever to watch.

Sundance 2021 #5
This has no idea what it wants to be. Buddy comedy? Crime comedy? Crime drama? Social critique? Well it's not funny, it's not engaging, it's embarrassingly amateur and tonally and narratively muddled enough to be a waste of time.

The Lighthouse 2019
I have never been less invested in a story or less interested in characters. This is unbelievably bleak and boring.
