Somehow this was my first time seeing this movie. I am sure it hit different in 2004. There were some funny moments, and I definitely now recognize where a few different memes or phrases came from. Leaned a little bit too hard into early 2000s humor to call it a classic, though.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I watched the Director's Cut / Roadshow Edition for the first time. The extra minutes definitely helped expand on the atmosphere. The set design and details were all excellent, and gave a sense of feeling. There's also less action than might be expected for a long war epic. Most of the battles are settled by diplomacy.

A perfect easy-watching movie. Nothing too complicated, good guys vs bad guys, and some great music. I was surprised by the escalation towards the end.

I had low expectations, and knew it would be dated, but this is one of the most color-by-numbers action movies I’ve ever seen. On paper, has a lot of actors i love, but didn’t deliver.
