Handled the subject matter extremely well. The quirkiness highlights the confusion and uneasiness after experiencing something bad.
Unfortunately, this just did not come together as much as I had hoped. I found Eva Victor to be a stronger director and writer, rather than actor.
Also, Fran was extremely sucky

Suzume was a beautiful film and explored themes of grief and the effects of disasters and losing a loved one. However, it felt somewhat repetitive. We were supposed to believe Suzume and Souta fell in love, yet she had more chemistry with Chika and other incidental characters she met along the way. Everyone EXCEPT the love interest had any actual character development. I felt more upset over Daijin, a somewhat trickster-god-antagonist, sacrificing himself than I did for the "main" character.
