Suzhou River is a gripping film that feels like a modern grim fairytale.
The inclusion of the videographer is what brings the movie home for me. There's something about having the main characters look directly into the camera at different points during the movie and gets us to really connect to them.
The first and third act of the movie is it's strongest, and the second act slows the movie down for me.…
